Jay. I's childhood was not ideal in any sense. Her negative environment could've changed her future outlook, but her love of God motivated her to exude positive energy. She takes pride in turning her earliest memories of abandonment, homelessness, and abuse into an art form. She started to write down all of her struggles at the age of 5 years old, converting her pain into poetry, short stories, and original songs, as a way to escape her negative reality. She became her own therapist cementing a strong foundation through her love of music. She writes what she calls “Get in your bag music.” Since she was a little girl, she would put on shows at her community church, school plays, step teams, and dance groups. Her favorite place to perform is on a stage singing her heart out for all of her Unicorn fans.

Motherhood changed her world and enabled her to dive into the music industry full-time. “I love music, It’s what makes my heartbeat. I’ll never be able to teach my daughter to chase her dreams if I’ve given up on mine.” So, she began writing 3-4 songs a day until she was ready to present her gift to the world. She released her first single, “No Free Love” in 2018 and the positive feedback from her Unicorn fans blew her away. She then produced her first powerful E.P. entitled, “Emotional Currency,” three more hit singles, and a handful of freestyles.

At only 26 years old, she was diagnosed with bilateral stage 3 breast cancer in March 2019. Then she underwent a double breast mastectomy and breast reconstruction surgery. She struggled to get to her aggressive chemotherapy sessions, due to lack of funds, but after 5 months, she was cancer-free and is now 5 months in remission. However, that didn't slow her down, Jay. I will donate 50% of all purchased proceeds to cancer patients by helping them with transportation services to their chemotherapy sessions. Please Donate to her Road to Recovery charity. She feels this is a part of her journey and directed all of her pain and triumph into her new E.P. entitled “Trixie,” which was released late May 2019. There is absolutely no turning back for Jay. I and her music goals are already set. She wants to write hits for all the greatest artists in the music industry. Especially her idols, such as Brandy and Beyoncé. She’s determined to tour the world and perform on every big stage and award shows like the Grammy's, VMAs, and the BET Awards. Her message of love, perseverance, and positivity is so necessary in these troubling times. She doesn’t try to fit in because she loves to stand out. She goes against the status quo like a real-life unicorn and loves every minute of it.
